Welcome to the 8th Newsletter of the FRONTSH1P Project

This eighth issue of the FRONTSH1P newsletter focuses on Work Package 8 (WP) of our project, which deals with the replication of the work done in WP2 transferring the lessons learned in the Circular Governance Model developed in the Łódzkie region to the set up the basis for the replication of the 4CSSs in the other four territorial clusters. The three articles on WP8 give you an overview of the Circular Benchmark Tool developed to set the Circular Economy Action Plans as well as the goals of this specific Work Package together with the actions being carried out and the replication areas.

The Circular Benchmark Tool for Developing Circular Economy Action Plans

The Circular Benchmark Tool (CBT), created in partnership with Friesland, assesses circular economy progress and supports cross-regional learning. The CBT is based on extensive research and has six key indicators for assessment, encompassing circular procurement, funding access, circular society, value chain activation, good governance, and integrated policy frameworks.

Replication Strategies in FrontSh1p – What are we up to?

The replication strategies focus on taking the methods and lessons learned in the Łódzkie region and transfer them to the four other European regions with the aim of contributing as well to the decarbonisation and regeneration of those areas. The joint work of  the stakeholders is an essential part  to achieve the expected results and initiate the path towards sustainability.

POLISH CIRCULAR WEEK 2023

Last October 26 FRONTSH1P celebrated an event at the Polish Circular Week 2023 as part of the LOOP Cluster formed by Agro2Circular, EcoeFISHent, CIRCULAR FOAM and FRONTSH1P under the title “Demonstrating the circular economy in Europe’s regions – creating Circular Territorial Clusters and developing Circular Economy Action Plans”. During the workshop the panellists discussed the challenges faced to implement circular systemic solutions in their respective regions.

PAPERS

Mapping municipal solid waste to boost circular valorisation practices in Łódzkie

The paper published by our project partner LNEG was part of the participation of FRONTSH1P in the 6th edition of the International Conference “WASTES: Solutions, Treatments and Opportunities”. The document looks deeply into the creation of a Geographic Information System (GYS) based on the data on municipal solid waster extracted from the Polish municipalities of the Łódzkie region.

New concept of digital innovation ecosystem in boostering circularity development twilight of traditional brokerage of innovation

The paper published by our project partner Pro-Akademia, delves into the transformation of traditional brokerage models into a new paradigm, where “circularity brokers” act as orchestrators in the circular economy ecosystem. These modern brokers leverage a wide array of IT tools and self-learning applications, equipped to provide stakeholders with precisely the information they need, when they need it.

Welcome to the 7th Newsletter of the FRONTSH1P Project

This seventh issue of the FRONTSH1P newsletter focuses on Work Package 7 (WP), which deals with the impact generation and assessment of our project, including our citizen engagement efforts and the development of a digital tool and corresponding methodology to enhance the FRONTSH1P’s circular economy approach. The five articles on WP7 give you an overview of the tasks and activities undertaken and detailed information on the approaches to citizen participation and the development of digital tools to support the transition to a circular economy. Finally, you will find a report on the last General Assembly of the project, which took place in Leeuwarden on 13 and 14 June.

The Digital Tools that will Help Make the Circular Economy a Reality

In addition to the work on citizen and stakeholder engagement and impact assessment, WP7 of the FRONTSH1P project is also responsible for the development of a digital platform/tools. At the heart of WP7 lies the development of a powerful web-based digital platform and tools. Building on the methodology developed in the Friesland province and the work carried out in WP2, this platform will serve as an assessment tool for the circular economic approach.

The FRONTSH1P Circular Economy Action Plan

In order to achieve the objectives of the FRONTSH1P project, the Circular Governance Model and the Circular Economy Action Plan (CEAP) for the Łódzkie region need to be elaborated. The frameworks for both documents are based on the assumptions adopted in the FRONTSH1P project and in regional strategic documents such as The Development Strategy of the Łódzkie Region 2030 and the action plan developed in the scope of the REPLACE project. Both the Circular Governance Model and the CEAP are crucial for the proper deployment of the circular economy in the region because they provide essential guidance and facilitate the transition.

The city of Leeuwarden in The Netherlands played host to the highly anticipated General Assembly of FRONTSH1P on the 13th and 14th of June. This event served as a pivotal moment, bringing together all members of the consortium to present and deliberate upon the progress made thus far, as well as chart the course for future actions within the project’s framework.
